Perspective.

Yellow balloon with life

I find that life delivers us messages in the most unique ways. I hadn’t even thought to look up but from the young boy’s perspective in a carefree sprawl on the chair, he had found his treasure, a wayward helium balloon stopped in its upward quest by the airport ceiling. “I want that balloon!” he demanded to his mother.

Looking up at this balloon that I didn’t even know existed moments before, I wondered how often we are limited by our narrow perspective – simply looking forward – straight ahead. Or even worse, continually looking backwards!

What will encourage us to widen our perspective and look around and look up and look to God? What treasures await us when we look at life differently?

Well, the young boy wasn’t able to capture the wayward balloon in the grip of his hand and he quickly moved on to the next wonder of life. But me? I was able to capture the wayward balloon in my memory to remind me to look at life from a different perspective.

Anytime I am feeling stuck, I simply think of my balloon.

Recipe for inspiration:  Change your screensaver to a balloon!  How many times today will this balloon remind you to look at life from a different perspective?

In His Hands: Look up at the heavens and see; gaze at the clouds so high above you. -Job 35:5
