In the Wilderness.

God is in the wilderness. I hike a rough trail to the cross not far from here. The wind is blowing. Blowing in answers to my constant questions, I hope.

I bring small tokens of my previous life to the Gifting Gate near the cross. These small tokens, offerings to YHWH from the life I had, the life I thought I would have, the life I actually had, and the life I hope to have. God reminds me that my dreams are not dead, just different.

It has been hard to leave the offerings until this last time, with empty hands, I leave my burdens, worries, and woes. Leaving them has left me feeling empty-handed and empty-hearted, with less.

But as my dear friend reminds me, God is the God of abundance. He will fill my empty hands with more, more love, more friends, more gifts, and more hope now that they are free from the old. Old habits, old worries.

It still feels like loss, even though I gain something wonderful. Grief with the gain, birth with the pain, beauty with the ashes.

Take Action: Find your local Gifting Gate. What can you leave of the old at the Gifting Gate in exchange for something beautiful?

In His Hands: But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it. -Matthew 7:14
